Meet Michel'le...the restored one

Restored, rejuvenated, and rescued are just a few words that describe Michel’le Crayton. This mother of two and motivational speaker may appear to have a fairytale life, however, her story is one that has evolved drastically over time.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in Chicago, Michel’le is no stranger to tragic times. As a young girl, Michel’le was sexually abused by a family member. This trauma at an early age twisted her views of herself and sexuality. She was catapulted into a world where sex now became a part of her identity. She admits that sex became a true addiction for her.

“I felt worthless and had low self- esteem but acted as if I was confident. My craving for attention was uncontrollable and would exceed any limit no matter the cost. I gave my body away freely. In and out of clubs looking for someone to fill my sheets in the middle of the nights.” Michel’le Crayton

This lifestyle of partying, drinking, fighting, and sleeping with men she barely knew lasted for years. During this time, Michel’le was able to find a superficial fulfillment from being close to men. However, eventually she began to spiral downward. She hit a deep depression, and knew it was time to cry out for help. Thankfully, instead of calling to those around her she sought God to heal her. She began to recognize that only God could heal the years of wounding and restore her.

“I was determined to live a better life. I fought against my flesh and the spirit of sexual perversion for years, praying and seeking God, He answered my prayers. God suddenly came through like a thief in the night taking that desire out of my heart” Michel’le Crayton

During this time, of committing her life to Christ, the Lord showed her how to love herself. The Lord began to reveal to her that in order to “have a FULFILLING relationship with a man, we first must have a personal relationship with the one above”.

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”  Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22: 36- 39

Michel’le began to see her world change around her after she began to trust God. The Lord sent her a husband who was able to love her despite her flaws and her past. She is now a devoted wife, a mother of two, a budding counselor and a motivational speaker. Recently, her testimony video has reached over 7.5 million views via social media. However, she tells her story, not so that people can applaud her, but so many can come to know how God can change their life. Michel’le says “It brings me joy in passing on my knowledge and wisdom that I obtained from the Lord. I want to give others hope and strength to fight their battles.” Her desire to tell others about God has catapulted her ministry for women. It is her hope that she can continue to be a resource for young women with low self-esteem fighting their own sexual demons.

Michel’le is truly an inspiration to many. She represents what it means to be victorious. Victory means to overcome despite the odds. Anyone who meets Michel’le can attest that she has truly become a new creation in Christ.

“I feel like I am victorious because I have overcome troubles and obstacles that so many have perished from. Someone may not live to experience victory after being sexually abused, ridiculed, misused, and tossed to the side as “spoiled goods” but God thought I was worth saving. He picked me up, dusted me off, and polished me clean and made me new all over again.” Michel'le Crayton

Join Victory Speaks in congratulating Mrs. Michel’le Crayton for being this month’s Woman of Victory! May we all learn a lesson that your present does not dictate your future. There is no circumstance that is too dire for God to rescue you and rejuvenate you. May you cry out to God in your time of need. Truly, He will restore and mend the broken places and set you on a path of victory!

“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
