Fear, The Enemy's Weapon to Block Your Victory

I have a story to share.

I think if you take a moment you may relate to this story of pizza, a door, and a dash of fear.

It happened yesterday. With a car full of children, we made a quick choice to head to Little Caesars to get some pizza. My husband left the car to get the normal order, two pepperoni pizzas. However, as we watched him walk in, our eyes caught the most amazing sign the world’s ever printed. Extra Cheesy Stuffed Pepperoni Pizza Hot and Ready Now! Well, this was clearly the better choice!

I motioned to my daughter to run in and tell her dad to change the order so we could dig into some chewy stuffed crust. I expected her to race out of the car, as her father wasn’t even 10 steps from the car. However, she froze. Her eyes were full of fear.

“I’m too afraid”, she said.

I asked her what she was afraid of. Her reply, “I don’t know.”

As she said this, she put her head down in defeat. Of course, I used this moment as a learning moment.

I asked her, “What if you knew on the other side of a door was $1,000,000 dollars, would you open the door?” She hesitated before saying, yes. I began to teach her some truth.

God wants to bless you with an open door, but He needs you to be willing to reach out your hand, move those feet, and take a step. In order for God to order your steps, you MUST move your feet!

A lot of times we freeze, the truth is we don’t even know why. We are so accustomed to being fearful. So accustomed to defeat. So accustomed to “what if the million dollars isn’t on the other side of the door.” So accustomed to not being accepted.

We refuse to take a risk.

Today, I want to challenge you. There may be a great reward for you coming soon. Don’t be too afraid to reach out and get what’s yours. Remember, “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Fear will be your biggest victory blocker if you don’t settle this now! Your future self is depending on it!

We know that fear is a direct attack from the enemy. He knows that if He can keep you fearful, you will be less likely to do what God has called you to do. Fear torments us.

Like a constant dripping water, fear is incessant and will have you repeating thoughts in your mind that were not sent by God. Fear is the exact opposite of faith. When you live a life of fear, you tell God daily that you do not trust Him fully.

Consider this, my daughter did not trust that I would not send her into danger. Had she believed that I would NEVER tell her something that would harm her, she would have leaped out the car. Instead, she was unsure if my instruction was safe for her.

I want to encourage you friends. God will not give you an instruction to put you in harm's way. He is a good father. He wants you to partake the very best life. However, He won't force it on you. Much like I did not force my daughter to walk into the store (perhaps I should have).

God does not seek to harm but to heal.

He does not seek to tear down but to build.

He does not seek to discourage but encourage.

He does not seek to embarrass you but to embrace you.

He does not desire for you to be timid but bold in His promises.

This is His heart for you. I challenge you to pray against fear. Fear of rejection, abandonment, death, harm, failure and more will be your personal prison if you don't rid yourself of it all! Pray fervently that God shows you the areas where fear is overtaking you and lets walk into the fullness of victory.
