It Takes Courage

Sometimes, God will call you to... Do something that's never been done, like Noah.

Help set others free, like Moses.

Say something that must be said, like Esther.

Act in a way that makes no sense to the world, like Joshua and the Israelites.

Start a movement, like Peter.

Walk in a position that others think you are unqualified to be in, like Paul.

When confronted with the challenge to break out of the boxes of our society, cultural norms, and family routines of mediocrity,

IT TAKES COURAGE!

It takes more than just wanting to do something radical; it takes perseverance and unashamed grit! It takes determination to rise above and do something that no one thinks you are capable of!

By definition, courage means to do something that one would frighten. In other words, it's natural to feel a hint of fear when faced with a new challenge. But does that mean we retreat? Absolutely NOT! In Joshua 1:9, God says, ”Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Though we may feel nervous to go into uncharted territories, like Joshua, we cannot retreat! Why? Because God is with you! Why? Because we know that when we walk into what God is telling us to do, it is not a trap or snare!

In his book, The Ten Hollywood Commandments, Devon Franklin says, “To  truly live like Jesus means to be a bold, out-of-the-box thinker-a voracious disrupter of societal norms that go against the fullness of who God created you to be.”

Our ability to be truly courageous comes down to how much we really trust God over the opinions of people and our own insecurities.

Why would God have you to do something completely brave and not deliver on His promise? Couldn’t God easily give you the strategy, wisdom, partnerships, and grace to get the job done? Of course, He can! But...it TAKES COURAGE to do it.  It takes you standing on His promises. It takes you trusting in Him. It takes you putting yourself out there when no one believes that you can do it! It takes knowing where your strength comes from and walking in the essence of that BOLDLY! Courage is not easy, but it is worth it! I can attest that there were numerous times I had to rely on God to walk paths that no one thought I could. From being the first in my family to finish college to earning a Master’s degree and writing a book, there were many things that people told me a mother of six should simply not ”do.” Yet, I heard God say, ”Keep going, there's more for you.” It took time, effort and patience to see my dreams become reality amidst the banter of the critics.  However, I knew that dying full of potential and dreams was never an option for me; neither is it for you! Friends, it takes courage! Today, I want to encourage you to dream, work, pray, and trust for the vision He’s placed in your heart. Let no one tell you that you aren't enough for the job!

Dare to be the first! You walking in your destiny gives someone else an extra push to walk in theirs!

Isaiah 41:10-13- So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.  Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.  For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.  1 Corinthians 16:13- Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.  Joshua 1:6- Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
